Starfield is a story not only about battles in space but also about resource extraction. Of course, most of them can be purchased from vendors. But when you need tons of resources, you still have to start looking for them in the wild. For example, if you want to build a large Outpost or craft several Internal Mods, you will have to go in search of Tantalum. And since it is extremely useful, it is quite rare. So, read on to learn where to find and how to use Tantalum in Starfield.

The first and easiest way to get Tantalum in Starfield is to purchase it. Many vendors in the game will happily sell you anything for Credits. However, in the case of Tantalum, things are a little more complicated. This resource is quite rare, so not every store has it. We recommend you visit these places:

  • Mining League in Neon
  • Midtown Minerals in Akila City
  • Clint’s Collectibles at Gagarin Landing

It is a quick way, but not the best, since you will have to spend Credits and skip time waiting for restocking. Therefore, we recommend you turn your attention to planets rich in Tantalum. Scan each planet you pass by for the Ta resource. But it is worth noting that sometimes you need to land on the planet to scan it. Here are some examples of where you can find Tantalum in Starfield:

  • Tau Ceti VIII-b in the Tau Ceti system
  • Hyla V-a in the Hyla system
  • Linnaeus II-a in the Linnaeus system
  • Delah in the Nirah system

After finding this ore, just use your Cutter to harvest Tantalum into Starfield. It is enough to craft several mods. But you should build Outpost and Extractor to mine Tantalum, even when you are busy with other things. And don’t forget about Transfer Container so that resources will automatically transfer to your ship.

How To Use Tantalum

Once you collect a lot of Tantalum, you can use it for Muzzle Mods 2 and Internal Mods 2 research. In addition, this ore is necessary for crafting various Mods, Structures, and Components:

  • Amplifier Mod (Internal)
  • High Powered Mod (Internal)
  • Suppressor Mod (Muzzle)
  • Short Suppressor Mod (Muzzle)
  • Stealth Lasers Mod (Muzzle)
  • Focus Nozzle Mod (Muzzle)
  • Zero-G Gimbal (Crafting Component)
  • Tirna I (Structure)
  • Tirna IV-a (Structure)
  • Tirna VIII-c (Structure)
  • Water Vapor – Commercial (Structure)
  • Water Vapor – Industrial (Structure)

That’s all you need to know about how to get and use Tantalum in Starfield. This ore is extremely useful for crafting, so follow our tips to find it in any required quantities. In the meantime, please take a look at our guide on how to get and use Fiber.
