House of the Dragon, the prequel to Game of Thrones, was a critical and commercial success when it premiered in August 2022. The show followed the Targaryen family 172 years before the events of Game of Thrones. It also chronicled the events leading to the Dance of the Dragons, a civil war that tore the family apart. Since the last episode of the first season aired, fans have looked forward to any information regarding season 2. Well, it is official! House of the Dragon will be returning for a second run, titled Dance of the Dragons. Here is everything to know about the upcoming season, including the release date.
What Is the Plot of ‘House of the Dragon’ Season 2?
So far, there is no official plot for House of the Dragon season 2. However, Dance of the Dragons should pick up from where Season 1 left off, with the Targaryen family on the brink of a civil war. In November 2022, Graham McTavish, who plays Ser Harrold Westerling opened up about what to possibly expect in season 2. Speaking to Metro, the actor shared that he believed the events of the series were leading to war. According to Westerling, he would expect more division and taking sides, as the family had been at peace for a long time.
What Is the Release Date for ‘House of the Dragon’ Season 2?
Fans can say goodbye to any hope of seeing Dance of Dragons on their screens this year. According to an update, House of the Dragon season 2 could hit the screens sometime in the Spring or early Summer of 2024. This is only normal as development began in August 2022, with filming kicking off on April 11, 2023. Hope remains that the release date won’t be pushed further as the production team works very hard behind the scenes. What’s more, unlike many projects, Dance of the Dragons wasn’t affected by the Writers and Actors’ strike. According to a report, House of the Dragon season 2 got the go-ahead to continue filming as it featured actors from the UK who were working under Equity contracts.
