Fans have been anticipating House of the Dragon season 2 since last year and now, HBO is already getting set for season 3 of the series. Even though they are aware it will premiere in 2024, many cannot wait to see the battle for the throne continue. But what does the future truly hold?
House of the Dragon season 2 will begin production in the UK, during summer time. The first time this HBO series touched down was in 2022. But lovers of the show understood that it was a prequel to Game of Thrones.
The plot revolves around the powerful Targaryen dynasty. It zoomed into King Viserys’ leadership/lordship over his people and particularly, his household. In the end, his death stirs strife for the throne. But that is what House of the Dragon season 2 hopes to address.
So far, fans have witnessed spectacular performances from Matt Smith, Eve Best, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, and Ewan Mitchell. As we gear up for season two, here is everything worth knowing about the epic drama.
House of the Dragon Season 2 will consist of eight episodes, as opposed to Season 1's ten episodes.

House of the Dragon season 2 Will Have Its Story Shortened With Eyes on Season 3 Already
Recall that season 1 had ten episodes, but House of the Dragon season 2 will have a different structure. While fans expect continuity, producers assure that it will feature only 8 episodes.
As mentioned earlier, production will take place in the UK, in the coming months. But the storyline had to undergo some changes beforehand. At first, it was destined for a 10-episode arc. However, when it was shortened, scriptwriters had to redirect the story.
Sources claim the change in management was responsible. Some noted that the Warner Bros. Discovery administration decided it was best to save costs.
Another new and welcoming change is the hope of extending the story. An insider revealed that the House of the Dragon season 2 is merely the end of the show. There are talks of producing House of the Dragon season 3.
So far, the show’s creator, Ryan Condal, and author/creator, George R.R. Martin have reconditioned themselves to elongate the storyline. Reportedly, after the 8 episodes of the upcoming season, House of the Dragon season 3 might air. On the part of the producers, they have their plans ready but await approval.
Shockingly it will not end there. Following the change of story and a new revised edition of Season 2, some major scenes have moved to the next season. But this has only led to the expansion of the storyline, leading to a possible Season 4.
