One of the biggest horror movies of 2023 has finally come to theaters with the arrival of The Nun II. Set in The Conjuring Universe, this film is the sequel to The Nun, with Taissa Farmiga returning as Sister Irene. Jonas Bloquet also returns as Frenchie/Maurice, while Bonnie Aarons makes her return as the titular demon the Nun, also known as Valak. Storm Reid and Anna Popplewell join them, and they play Sister Debra and Kate, respectively. You might be wondering if the movie connects to the larger cinematic universe, so let’s take a look at if The Nun II has a post-credits scene.
Is There Anything After the Credits of The Nun II?
If you have filled up on popcorn and soda and need to go to the bathroom, you will need to wait as there is a post-credits scene in The Nun II. Immediately after the movie ends, stylized credits begin to roll. You’ll recognize them if you’re a fan of the previous films in The Conjuring Universe, as they are in a similar style. The footage and imagery the credits roll over are black and white, and they usually depict a combination of images from the movie and from real life.Â
After the stylized credits, you will find a short post-credits scene, one that ties The Nun II to the larger cinematic universe. After that, there are no extra scenes other than a title with a sound effect as a jump scare at the very end of the credits. If you want to know what The Nun II post-credits scene is and how it connects to The Conjuring Universe, you can keep reading. But be warned, the rest of this article contains spoilers for The Nun II.
How Does the Post-Credits Scene of The Nun II Connect to The Conjuring Universe?
The post-credits scene of The Nun II mirrors the ending of the original film and connects to the events of the first film in the franchise, The Conjuring. While The Nun II was mostly in Europe, the post-credits scene takes place in America, at the home of the Warrens. That’s right Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson make their returns as Lorraine and Ed Warren respectively. They receive a phone call from Father Gordon, most likely to send the pair to Europe to check on the possessed Maurice.Â
This scene explains how they were present for Maurice’s possession, and how they obtained the footage used in their lecture in The Conjuring. It’s unclear if this means that Sister Irene met the Warrens, but that would seemingly lead to some plot holes in the later films. Who knows, they might even make The Nun III to expand Sister Irene’s story even further. You can catch The Nun II in theaters from September 8, 2023.
