Genshin Impact has a gacha system known as Wishing that allows you to pull 5 or 4-star characters or powerful weapons. However, since the drop rate for good items or characters is extremely low, your fate is in the hands of luck. This is where the pity system comes into play, which gives players a chance to get a rarity every once in a while. Let’s go over what the pity system is in Genshin Impact and how you can make the most of it.

With Genshin’s pity system in place, you are guaranteed to get a high-level character or weapon after a certain number of rolls. While RNG is still involved in what this character or weapon will be, it will belong to the banner you choose. Here are the number of rolls you need for banners:

  • Limited Character Banner: Roll 10 times for a guaranteed 4-star and 90 times for a guaranteed 5-star.
  • Standard Banner: Roll 10 times for a guaranteed 4-star and 90 times for a guaranteed 5-star.
  • Weapon Banner: Roll 10 times for a guaranteed 4-star and 80 times for a guaranteed 5-star.

When you roll the above amounts, you gain one item from that banner. Moreover, there is a hidden system called “soft pity.” You have a base rate of 0.6% for character drops. This 0.6% chance will gradually increase until it reaches 100% on your 90th roll on the Character Event Wish banner and the Standard Wish banner, meaning that from roll number 75 onward, you’ll have a higher chance of receiving a 5-star character.

Furthermore, the pity system carries over, but you should note that it only happens between the same banners. The pity mechanic doesn’t transfer to separate banners, as each has its own counter. For example, suppose you have 20 rolls on a Limited Character Banner. In that case, this will carry over to the next Limited Character Banner.

In short, the pity system helps you cover your losses after a certain point but involves a ton of pulls. Nevertheless, hopefully, we’ve helped you learn how the pity system works in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact is available on PC, PlayStation, and mobile.
