It’s well-known that Netflix has one of the biggest libraries of TV shows online. The platform boasts over 1,800+ TV shows at any time, all available at the push of a button. It’s impressive, but not even Netflix’s space is unlimited, meaning that sometimes shows have to be moved off of Netflix to make room for new titles. As September 2023 approaches, many Netflix shows have been slated for the chopping block, including the Scream series, The Originals, and Sister, Sister. If you aim to complete your watchlist before these shows leave, here’s a complete list of every show leaving Netflix in September 2023.
‘Sister, Sister’ and ‘Scream’ To Leave Netflix in September
Fifteen TV shows are slated to be taken off Netflix in September. Among these, Scream is one of the most notable departures, an anthology series starring Willa Fitzgerald, Bex Taylor-Klaus, and Bella Thorne. Adapted from the popular Scream movies, the TV series ran for three seasons between 2015 and 2019 and followed a group of teenagers being stalked by Ghostface, the masked serial killer. Seasons 1 and 2 centered around Laketown, Lousina, and Emma Duval (Fitzgerald), while the third season moved to Atlanta and focused on football player Deion Elliot (RJ Cyler).
Aside from Scream, some of the other big TV shows leaving Netflix are Sister, Sister, and the CW’s The Originals. Sister, Sister was a 1994 sitcom that starred Tia and Tamera Mowry as Tia Landry and Tamera Campbell, twin sisters separated at birth that rediscovered each other following a chance encounter at the mall. The girls and their adoptive parents have to work to reconnect with each other, though that’s easier said than done with the twins’ conflicting personalities. The sitcom ran for six seasons between 1994 and 1999.
The Originals initially aired on the CW as a Vampire Diaries spinoff. centered around the Mikaelson family. Joseph Morgan starred as Klaus Mikaelson, the first vampire-werewolf hybrid, along with Daniel Gillies and Claire Holt as Elijah and Rebekah Mikaelson, Klaus’ half-siblings and ancient vampires. The series ran for five seasons between 2013 and 2018 and spawned its own spinoff with Legacies (2018).
