It’s safe to say that a lot of big changes are occurring in Hollywood right now. A lot of actors have found their futures in question as their projects are suspended or canceled, or they’ve otherwise stepped out of some long-held roles. Alexa Davalos is the latest to join this crowd as she announces that she will not be returning to CBS’ FBI: Most Wanted whenever the show returns for season 5. The reasoning behind Davalos’ departure isn’t clear, though sources close to the actress and the show have said the split was done on good terms.
Alexa Davalos Leaves’ FBI: Most Wanted’ In Shocking Announcement
First premiering in January 2020, FBI: Most Wanted centers the FBI Fugitive Task Force as they hunt down the criminals on the FBI Most Wanted List. Originally, the team was headed by Special Agent Jess LaCroix (Julian McMahon), who was replaced by Agent Remy Scott (Dylan McDermott) in season 3. Alexa Davalos began starring as Agent Kristin Gaines, an ex-Naval Intelligence officer and Miami-based field agent, in season 3 of FBI: Most Wanted. Gaines was initially brought in to assist the Fugitive Task Force with a sex trafficking case and ended up replacing Kenny Crosby (Kellan Lutz) as the team’s intelligence officer.
The news of Alexa Davalos’ departure comes as a shock to many FBI: Most Wanted fans, as there weren’t any signs that her character would be leaving when season 4 of the show concluded in May. When we last left Kristin Gaines, she and the Fugitive Task Force had spent the season 4 finale helping Remy Scott capture his brother’s killer before he could escape to Canada. It’s unclear how Gaines’ exit will be handled when the show eventually comes back for season 5 or the reasoning behind why it had to happen in the first place.
According to Deadline, Alexa Devalos’ split from FBI: Most Wanted might not have been entirely voluntary. Sources close to Davalos state that she was “informed by a producer on set that she won’t be coming back after filming her last scene from Season 4 several months ago”, and while this provides some insight into her sudden departure, all signs are point to Davlos still being on good terms with CBS.
Prior to appearing on FBI: Most Wanted, Alexa Davalos starred as Juliana Crain in The Man in the High Castle and Andromeda in Clash of the Titans. More information on her departure from her current role will likely become available as we get more information on FBI: Most Wanted season 5, which has been delayed due to the double strike in Hollywood.
