A release window for what is arguably among the best video game adaptations ever has been announced, and Arcane fans have been rejoicing. The acclaimed animated series based on League of Legends aired its first season in November 2021. The show has gained a strong following and positive reviews, including winning an Emmy. Viewers and critics adored Arcane’s cast, powerful storytelling, quality animation, and complex themes. The first season ended on a cliffhanger, leaving viewers anticipating an inevitable follow-up. Now fans have an idea of when Arcane Season 2 will be released.

Tencent, the Chinese conglomerate that owns League of Legends developer Riot Games, held a 2024 Video Conference revealing that Arcane Season 2 will premiere in the fourth quarter of 2024. That will be a three-year gap between Seasons 1 and 2 for the prestige series. Tencent did not reveal a specific release date for Arcane Season 2.
The first season of Arcane had a notoriously long production period. Riot Games and animation studio Fortiche reportedly worked on Season 1 for six years before the show finally saw the light of day on Netflix. The meticulous animation process was what contributed to the long production period, including animating proof of concepts for the show before episode writing began.

Producers and writers promised the second season wouldn’t take that long, though fans still expected to wait a few years for season 2. A potential three-year production for Arcane Season 2 would give it half the production time of the first season.
Who Is the Cast of Arcane Season 2?
Riot Games has not revealed much information about Arcane Season 2. Presumably, the cast from the first season will return to play the same roles. The first season featured a stacked cast that included Hollywood and television stars. The Arcane cast includes Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell, Kevin Alejandro, Katie Leung, Toks Olagundoye, Harry Lloyd, Reed Shannon, and Jason Spisak.
Hailee Steinfeld is the biggest name on the cast list. She’s a big-time actress featured in multiple popular films since childhood. Her prominent roles include starring in True Grit, Bumblebee, and Hawkeye. Ella Purnell is an up-and-coming English actress who received critical acclaim for her portrayal of Jinx in Arcane. She also recently starred in the Showtime series Yellowjackets.
Kevin Alejandro is a prominent television actor, while Katie Leung is an English actress known for playing Cho Chang in Harry Potter. Jason Spisak is a prolific voice actor who also received heavy praise for his performance as the main villain of Arcane.
What Can We Expect for Arcane Season 2?
The first season of Arcane centers on the relationship between sisters Vi and Jinx. The first season also includes the growing tensions between the prosperous city of Piltover and the dark underbelly of Zaun. The final moments of the first season have Vi and Jinx failing to reconcile their differences, with Jinx rejecting Vi’s pleas. She then fires a rocket at Piltover’s council, possibly ensuring a war between Piltover and Zaun.
The second season will presumably continue the conflict between the cities. There will probably be some causalities within the council after Jinx’s attack, and she will continue to be a major antagonist for the second season. The first season also hints that more characters from League of Legends will appear, including Warwick and Orianna.
