It’s been a little over a decade since Disney took over Star Wars, and there has been a lot of output from the franchise ever since. On top of the new trilogy, the most notable new Star Wars media that’s come out in abundance from the mid-2010s to now is the plethora of TV shows. Especially since the launch of Disney+, there has been a notable uptick in the number of new Star Wars TV shows that fans have been able to consume, enjoy, and discuss lately. Some are certainly better than others, though. Star Wars fans, both new and old alike, who haven’t seen these shows might want to know what Disney’s best shows within the universe are at this point.

5. Rebels

Rebels was the first show to follow up the fantastic success of The Clone Wars, which set a high bar for any series to match. It stoked a little controversy at first among skeptical Star Wars fans. However, over the course of several seasons, Rebels proved to be a fantastic show full of heartfelt moments and excellent character work.

It definitely is one of those shows where a lot of fans will say the first season needs to be pushed through to get to the really good stuff, which can be annoying for some. Still, anyone willing to get to seasons Two through Four will find some of the best stories ever produced by a Star Wars show.

4. Andor

Many of the Disney+ Star Wars shows following The Mandalorian have been controversial among the fanbase. Andor is not one of those shows. Cassian Andor’s prequel show leading up to the events of the Rogue One movie feels like a gritty and mature step forward in the universe that is particularly enjoyable for sci-fi fans who have grown up with this world.

Andor is a show that proves a Star Wars property doesn’t need recognizable faces or gimmicky fights to pull in audiences everywhere. The story is popular and beloved because it transmits the same heart and soul of the Rebels that initially drew audiences in with the original trilogy more than 40 years ago.

3. Visions

Star Wars Visions stands out as one of the most unique ideas for a property within the sci-fi universe. That’s not a knock against any of the other ideas on this list for being unoriginal. It’s just praise for this show being something Star Wars while simultaneously looking and feeling like nothing else.

Star Wars Visions is an anthology show, meaning each episode is a self-contained story, and each of those stories is written and created by various animation departments. Season 1 solely focused on Japanese animation departments, but Season 2 expanded to countries from around the world, which contributes layers of diversity and fresh ideas that perfectly fit within the universe.

2. The Clone Wars (Season 7)

The Clone Wars animated series is a show that survived almost purely off the strength and tenacity of its fanbase as they begged for new seasons over the years. Thanks to that, the show jumped from Cartoon Network to Netflix for Season 6 and then again from Netflix to Disney+ for its seventh and final season.

Since Disney only handled the last twelve episodes of the show, that’s all that’s being ranked here. Nonetheless, Season 7 of The Clone Wars alone is worthy of being placed high on this list due to the way it bombastically ends possibly the best Star Wars show ever created.

1. The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian is not the show people were expecting, but it’s the show that took the world by storm anyway. Skepticism for Disney+ and its original content was high prior to this show, putting doubts to bed. It has heart, fantastical sci-fi scenarios, and the little green Grogu that has understandably been slapped over every piece of merchandise Disney can manage since the show’s premiere.

It might be fair at this point to say that the show peaked with its first season, especially after a particularly controversial third season. Nevertheless, the show has maintained highlights throughout its entire run thus far and will more than likely continue to do so into the future.
