As you might’ve noticed, Valve has deleted all Achievements for CSGO with the release of Counter-Strike 2. Launched as a free upgrade to its predecessor, CS2 only comes with one hidden Achievement, for some reason. So what is this weird hidden ‘cheevo and how can you unlock it in Counter-Strike 2?
How to Get the CS2 Hidden Achievement
All you have to do to unlock the CS2 hidden Achievement is by playing any game mode. Start a game, wait for a moment, and you should get the “A New Beginning” Achievement with the description that reads, “This is Counter-Strike, too.”
Obviously, the name means that the series is starting from scratch again. Meanwhile, the description is a terrible pun of “two” and “too.” This fits perfectly with CS2‘s current state, considering all previous 100+ Achievements were wiped clean and the player base is feeling terrible about it.
Most players said that you don’t even have to complete a round to get it. But if the Achievement is still not unlocked, try completing at least one round. It should appear after you start the next round.
It’s very easy to unlock this CS2 hidden Achievement since it works with any game mode. For example, you can just start a Deathmatch with bots and then immediately quit the game to unlock it.
Will The Game Get More Achievements?
Speaking of the hidden Achievement in Counter-Strike 2, as mentioned above, Valve has removed all CSGO Achievements. Considering CS2 has replaced CSGO entirely, it means all players just lost access to the 167 Achievements they’ve painstakingly collected over the years.
At the moment, Valve has yet to release a statement about this issue. But there are two ways this could go. One, the CS2 developer will add lots of Achievements again in future updates, rivaling CSGO‘s amount. Second, Valve will ditch Achievement completely to focus more on the game’s competitive aspect.
Personally, I’m leaning more toward the first result. It is a bit weird that a new game launched with only one Achievement these days. But maybe Valve does not consider Achievements as a vital part of the visuals and mechanics improvements from CSGO to CS2. Maybe the team wants players to focus more on the new graphics and gameplay and save Achievement hunting for a later date. Making more than 160 fun and challenging Achievements might also take quite a lot of time. Valve could just let the idea cook for a while so it can deliver unique ones that take skills and creativity to unlock.
CSGO also had a number of cut Achievements still left in the game files. Some were the same ones from Counter-Strike: Source and some others were simply never implemented in the game. Let’s see if Valve will implement even more amusing Achievements in CS2 compared to its predecessors.
Counter-Strike 2 is now available on PC via Steam.
