For Version 4.1 of Genshin Impact, the Subdetection Unit was introduced as a new local specialty. The important thing to know about the local resources is that most serve as ascension materials for characters. That is why knowing where to find each item is imperative to make farming as efficient as possible. If you’re looking for the best farming routes for the Subdetection Unit in Genshin Impact, we have them here, along with the locations of each reagent.

The Fontaine Research Institute of Kinetic Energy Engineering is part of the new map in Genshin Impact Version 4.1. The Subdetection Unit is a beetle-shaped mechanism used to collect environmental data. You will find this material easily near the Liffey Region and Fontaine Research Institute Region. Fortunately, this material is mostly found on the surface, so you won’t have to explore through many underwater caves.

In Genshin Impact 4.1, you can find up to 64 Subdetection Units scattered all over the area added in this update; knowing their locations will make farming them much easier. Here, we have broken down the best farming route to get the Subdetection Units in Genshin Impact:

  1. You can start by teleporting to Mount Esus East. Head along the coast to the southwest waterfall. There, you will find a Subdetection Unit on the mini island, 2 more across, and 2 more where the waterfall starts.
  2. Continue to The Statue of the Seven, where there will be 4 Subdetection Units on the same platform.
  3. Cross the ruined bridge, and at the pier, you will find 2 Subdetection Units.
  4. Continue to the next teleport waypoint to the west, where there will be another 4 Subdetection Units.
  5. Towards the stairs in the ruins to the west, you will find 3 more Subdetection Units.
  6. Then, continue to the west lake for another 7 Subdetection Units. For these, you will need to dive into the lake and find an underwater tunnel.
  7. From the lake, cross the island to the north until you find the river. On one side, there will be 3 Subdetection Units, and on the other side, only one.
  8. Heading north, continue to some ruins very close to the edge of the map. There will be 2 more Subdetection Units.
  9. Between all the ruins southeast to the next waypoint, there will be up to 9 Subdetection Units.
  10. You will find 11 Subdetection Units in the northwest ruins.
  11. Continue to the map boundary, heading northwest for another 3 Subdetection Units.
  12. Follow the map border to the southeast towards the last ruins. There you will find 3 more Subdetection Units.
  13. There will be another Subdetection Unit at the pier and another down the ruin’s mountain.
  14. For the last 2 Subdetection Units, you must unlock Fortress of Meropide and go to B6.

Another way to make it easier for you to collect materials in Fontaine is by having Lyney. His passive will allow you to see the Subdetection Unit and other local specialties on the mini-map of Genshin Impact. As always, we recommend grabbing any other material you see while exploring all Subdetection Unit locations in Genshin Impact; who knows? You might need those materials for the next new character.
