“Barbie” Digital Release Date Confirmed
According to the Amazon listing, fans can pre-order the “Barbie” movie in three different formats on Prime Video: UHD, HD, and SD. They will all cost $24.99. Those who pre-order the movie can watch it as soon as it drops on the platform on Sept. 5. In addition to Prime Video, fans can watch “Barbie” online via iTunes. The film will also be available on Blu-ray and DVD on Amazon, Walmart, and Target.
The “Barbie” digital release date news comes amid “Barbie” surpassing “The Dark Knight” to become Warner Bros.’ highest-grossing film at the domestic box office. Greta Gerwig‘s comedy made $537.5 million domestically, while Christopher Nolan‘s superhero flick made $536 million. To add to its achievements, “Barbie” has also become the second-biggest movie of 2023. Since releasing on July 21, it’s made over $1.19 billion globally, putting it just behind the “Super Mario Bros.” movie, which grossed over $1.35 worldwide during its run. The animated film also made $574 million domestically compared to Gerwig’s $537 million hit.
While the “Barbie” digital release date is set for Sept. 5, Max (formerly HBO Max) hasn’t announced when the film will join the streaming service just yet. If it sticks to its usual 45-day release window regarding its theatrical films, then it could add “Barbie” in early September as well.
