Tobin Bell, best known for playing the original Jigsaw in the Saw films, will reprise his role. The actor has finalized a deal to play John Kramer in the upcoming Saw film. Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures want to bring some life back into the horror film franchise. Kevin Greuter will direct this Saw film that will star Tobin Bell as Jigsaw. Mark Burg and Oren Koules, producers of the new Saw film, have expressed their excitement for Bell returning to the Lionsgate horror film franchise. They said regarding his return:
“His performance as John Kramer is part of the magic that made this franchise a phenomenon and his character is an active part of this film.”
This will be the tenth installment of the franchise and the ninth time that Bell will be Jigsaw. There are no official details on the plotline for the next film.
Tobin Bell Added to the Uniqueness of the Horror Film Franchise
Jigsaw is not a run-of-the-mill serial killer. He feels justified in torturing the “unethical” people he kidnaps and forces them through terrible “tests”. Tobin Bell as Jigsaw has become a trademark of the Lionsgate Saw horror film franchise. Horror film franchises like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Halloween are slasher films with no rhyme or reason. Saw has many reasons for the gruesome acts that take place in it, and Bell as Jigsaw is the focal point. It is significant that Tobin Bell has signed on to return to the Lionsgate horror film franchise. Bell as Jigsaw is the face of Saw, just as Doug Bradley as Pinhead is the face of Hellraiser and Robert Englund as Freddy Kreuger is for Nightmare on Elm Street. Saw is the new generation of horror. It has given more depth to insanity than many of the horror films before it.
