Fans of the brutal bloodbath that is Netflix’s Castlevania were left desperately craving more after the four episodes of the far too short first season. However, this Halloween there is more still to come! Netflix has officially announced the release date of the second season: October 26, 2018.
Netflix made the release date official at their panel during the Anime Expo 2018, and, thankfully, the season will be twice as long with eight episodes. Per usual, the second season of Castlevania will be available in its entirety upon its release for your binging pleasure. Richard Armitage (The Hobbit franchise) will be returning as our sarcastic monster hunter Trevor Belmont, and well-known comic book writer Warren Ellis will continue working on the fabulously written show.
While Netflix has yet to officially announce a third season, Armitage might have let the cat out of the bag during an interview with Digital Spy. “We’re about to record a third,” Armitage revealed, “The second season hasn’t been aired yet, but we’re about to do a third.” Maybe we can hope for a more normal amount of episodes in the third season, like 12!
Castlevania’s animated series is visually inspired by Konami’s Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, but these visuals aren’t for the faint of heart. (Spoiler Alert!) According to Armitage, the second season will focus heavily on the collaboration of Belmont and Dracula’s son, Adrian Tepes, whom they discover at the end of season one. Castlevania showcases a desolate world where Dracula punishes the humanity that took everything from him, and Belmont and Trepes might be humanity’s only hope for salvation.
October 26 is going to be a big day with Castlevania’s second season releasing and Red Dead Redemption 2 releasing on the same day, but you won’t hear us complaining! We loved the first season of Castlevania (read our review here), and we are looking forward to an even spookier Halloween due to the new episodes!
