Current-gen GPUs have been unbearably expensive. Now, we will have something affordable. NVIDIA has announced the RTX 4060, with a price point of $299. The company has aimed to release it in July, while the 4060 Ti will release on May 24 for the affordable price of $399 (8 GB). July will also offer the Ti for $499 (16 GB).
When NVIDIA first unveiled the 40 series, we saw that the price of the new generation would be hefty. The 4090 was retailed for $1,599 as the most expensive. Add the problems with scalpers, similar to what plagued people wanting an Xbox Series or PlayStation 5; then it became an accomplishment to find an upgrade for your graphics card. Now, with prices of $299-499, we have something that is fair for people to reasonably afford if they are in a situation to upgrade their GPU.
The company also has a social media giveaway to give you this $299 GPU. All you have to do is follow NVIDIA on Twitter, use #RTX4060, and tag a creator who will receive two cards to give out (seen below).

While you see a $100 difference between the RTX 4060 Ti versions, NVIDIA claims not to see any difference in performance. Besides the 8GB and 16GB versions, the specs are the same. It is to be noted that it tests games in 1080p. If you play at a higher resolution, you may find a difference from what the company reports. While many argue about the difference, you may want to wait until both releases to get a better consensus.
The 4060, compared to the 3060, sees some interesting improvements and differences. The 4060 is a 15 teraflop with 8 GB of VRAM, compared to 13 teraflops and 12 GB from the 3060. The 4060 is set to be more energy efficient, 115 watts, with a claimed average of 110 watts. The 3060 was 170 watts, with an average being 170 watts.
The RTX 40 series is the most popular, but this is the first time we have seen NVIDIA price any of its modern cards under $500 or even under $300. The announcement shows the competition between these companies as Intel unveiled its A750 card with a price of $289. NVIDIA may not beat that, but such a small difference will tighten the competition.
