Twilight fans have been in their glory lately. Not only has the Twilight saga been picked up by Peacock after streaming on Netflix for 6 months, but Twilight’s very own Alice Cullen, aka Ashley Greene, is coming out with her very own Twilight-themed podcast, aptly titled The Twilight Effect.
The Twilight Effect is hosted by Greene along with her best friend (and proud Twi-hard) Melanie Howe. The Twilight star tells Entertainment Weekly that the show was inspired by the sudden spike in popularity of the Twilight franchise thanks to its success on streaming services, opening the door for a new generation of Twilight fans. In a time where feedback from fans is more important than ever, Ashley Greene promises that her podcast is here for the fans who she declares are “top notch.” Not only will questions and guest submissions found in the comments be considered for future episodes, but during a recent Instagram story, Ashley spoke about a contest where a lucky fan on Instagram could win a chance to be featured on the show!
The official Apple synopsis tells us that Ashley and Melanie will dive into the Twilight saga in a multitude of ways during the 30 episode podcast. In one aspect, they’ll rewatch each of the Twilight films and dissect iconic scenes while treating fans to personal commentary and feedback from Alice Cullen herself (including the infamous baseball scene, which Ashley told Entertainment Weekly was “a bit chaotic” to shoot). Additionally, Ashley will drop Twilight gems as she shares inside scoop and behind-the-scenes tea that happened both on and off the set. Fans can also look forward to hearing personal interviews with other Twilight stars, including Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, and Peter Facinelli. When asked if Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will be featured on the podcast, Ashley Greene bashfully replied, “I’m certainly not telling you because that would be one of the biggest surprises.”
Podcasts are an excellent way for celebrities to open up and share a more human side to the otherwise glorified Hollywood experience. In addition to behind-the-scenes gossip, Ashley Greene promises fans that her podcast will also deliver on openness and vulnerability, as she asks her former co-stars to open up about their experience of being a part of the Twilight mass hysteria. At the same time, her co-host Mel gets the privilege of asking the Twilight stars the burning questions on every fan’s mind. It will be interesting to hear the Twilight stars share how their lives were impacted by the fame and popularity of the Twilight mania. We won’t have to wait much longer to find out. The Twilight Effect premieres on Apple on Tuesday, March 15th.
