Image Comics alongside Skybound Entertainment are giving fans their first look at the upcoming Walking Dead box sets. These four limited edition sets are in celebration of the comic’s 20th anniversary. They bring together the entire original run of Robert Kirkman’s post-apocalyptic series about survivors in the zombie apocalypse. Each issue is in its original black-and-white paperback format. Image plans to release each of the four sets weekly, beginning on October 3.
Leaving A Mark
Since its debut, The Walking Dead has become a favorite amongst fans and critics alike. When the comics first hit shelves in 2003, nobody could have dreamed how big of a success Image Comics had on their hands, especially the folks at Image. The publisher’s Chief Creative Officer, Eric Stephenson, shared that “no one could have guessed that it would go on to become one of our most successful series” to date. Even more, nobody knew it would become the global phenomenon it is today.
Currently, the comic series has been translated into more than 20 languages and spun off into popular video games, novels, merch, and a television show you may have heard of. In fact, that television series then branched off into six other TV spinoffs. Naturally, these Walking Dead box sets are sure to be high on any fan’s wish list.
Previewing The Walking Dead Box Sets
Image Comics is giving just a small taste of what fans can expect when these box sets release in October. The preview images show all four of the Walking Dead box sets together. Each is emblazoned with a special 20th anniversary logo. The outside of the sets is adorned with some of the original artwork from the comics. This includes a smirking Negan looking on at the shadow of a sword wielding Michonne and the iconic Rick Grimes amongst a field of marked graves.
The first Walking Dead box set release in bookstores on October 3 and comic book shops the following day. The rest release on Tuesday the following three weeks.
