This week’s Edge of Spider-Verse #3 is set to reveal all about the mysterious Spider-Boy. The issue, from Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos, shows a Spider-Boy who realizes nobody knows who he is. The newly introduced hero is amazed that Miles Morales, Peter Parker, and the other heroes of the Marvel Universe don’t remember his exploits. Especially since he is Spider-Man’s sidekick. Is this a trick? Something multiverse-related? Or something new that the Spider-Verse has yet to face?
Building Mystery
Spider-Boy made their debut earlier this year in Spider-Man #7. The bouncing Spider-hero came onto the scene claiming to be Spidey’s sidekick. Even though nobody seems to know this kid, he claims to be from the main Marvel Universe (Earth-616). If this is true, it rules out any multiverse or Spider-Verse shenanigans.
The only things we do know about Spider-Boy is that his name is Bailey, and he has had numerous adventures with both Peter Parker and Miles Morales. The mysterious hero also hints that he made a big sacrifice for Miles and Peter. Could this sacrifice be why nobody remembers him? Or is he making up an elaborate lie to cover up some nefarious plot? Luckily, we won’t have too long to wait to find out.
Unmasking Spider-Boy
This week’s Edge of Spider-Verse #3 is ready to unmask Spider-Boy and reveal why nobody knows who he is. Some spoiler-y panels over at Bleedingcool show that under the mask lies the face of a red-headed 10-year-old. Spider-Boy decides to ditch the mask, which he got from Reed Richards since nobody knows him in all of New York.
The panels go on to show Spider-Boy trying to find someone who remembers him. This includes going to Aunt May’s place, but she doesn’t recognize the young kid. How could everyone forget him, especially if he has joined Spider-Man in saving the world? Perhaps this is a ramification of Spidey’s recent tangle with other dimensions.
Edge of Spider-Verse #3 is out on Wednesday.
