In what is sure to be the wedding of the century, Tony Stark and Emma Frost getting hitched. The just-released covers for X-Men #26 and Invincible Iron Man #10 connect to reveal the extravagant event. Releasing later in September, both issues come from writer Gerry Dugan and artist Stefano Caselli. While the couple looks to be in blissful matrimony on Lucas Werneck’s beautiful covers, Marvel has quite a history with weddings. So, why exactly are these two powerhouse heroes getting married? Better yet, will it last? And does it have anything to do with Fall of X? Only time will tell.

Tony Stark And Emma Frost Together Forever?
This holy union kicks off in X-Men #26 when Emma Frost reveals her upcoming nuptials to her mutant family. Needless to say, this causes quite a stir in the mutant community. However, there isn’t too much time to dwell on the “how” and “why” this marriage came to be. Invincible Iron Man #10 cordially invites readers to the big event. While Gerry Dugan puts everyone back in their Hellfire best for the wedding, the happiness may be short-lived. Marvel teases an Orchis raid on the heels of this big “I do.”
How Did We Get Here?
Writer Gerry Duggan is enjoying the confusion of fans who never thought Emma Frost and Tony Stark would be wed. In what world are the White Queen and Iron Man a power couple? Apparently, this one. The writer shares that while “neither seems the marrying type,” that is exactly what is happening. But the “why” is something readers will have to wait and find out:
“Why this works, and how this works and how much fun this is whether their marriage works or not will need to be seen to be believed and you’ll have to buy it to find out. They certainly don’t seem like they’re ready to be married to anyone, let alone to each other, but life can change quickly. While both are image-conscious public figures, I have to say I don’t know that either would care what the public thinks. Love is love. That said, while they have little in common, they are both capitalists with a capital ‘C,’ so perhaps that’s a commonality that will allow their marriage to thrive.”
Of course, if you have been paying attention to the recent events in both Iron Man’s world and Krakoa, this union may make more sense. Recently, the anti-mutant group Orchis stole Stark’s company from him. They are using his tech to create Stark Sentinels to hunt down the mutant population. Add in the Fall of X event on the horizon, and perhaps these two have a plan up their sleeve that just happens to involve a white dress, a cake, and plenty of champagne.
