Boom! Studios announced a new Firefly series is coming this Fall. The six-issue miniseries, titled Firefly: The Fall Guys, comes from writer Sam Humphries, artist Jordi Perez, and colorist Francesco Segala. It is the first series from the publisher to bring the original Serenity crew back together since All-New Firefly. Boom! Studios promise that this new Firefly series is jam-packed with assassins, jobs gone wrong, and some organized crime. You know, your classic Firefly adventure.
New Firefly Series
The official synopsis for Firefly: The Fall Guys shares that the Serenity crew is “broke and out of luck.” To turn their luck around, they must deal with “some of their shadier associates.” However, what seems like an easy job in town for half of the crew, quickly goes awry. This “quick job” soon turns into dealing with “feds, untrusting locals, and a high-profile politician”. Sounds like a new Firefly series but with the same old Firefly problems.
Meeting The Team
Taking the Serenity crew on this new adventure is writer Sam Humphries. He has built an impressive resume with over 200 comics under his belt. Recently, you may have read his work on Harley Quinn, Avengers, X-Men, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Or, you may have caught his original comics like Blackbird, Jonesy, and Goliath Girls.
Speaking to Boom!, Humphries shared that he is “thrilled to be welcomed into the Firefly ‘verse.” He went on the share, “I love Westerns, so bringing the best bandits in the galaxy back to their buckaroo roots with a fantastic artist like Jordi has been a dream.”
Meanwhile, artist Jordi Perez has left their mark on several iconic series, including James Bond, Red Sonja, and Vampirella. Plus, they worked on Boom! Studio’s previous Firefly series: “Although it’s not the first time I’ve worked on Firefly, each time is new and special,” they shared. “Sam’s script is giving me a great time drawing lots of adventure and fun. The Western essence of the series will be very present. I hope you all enjoy it”.
You can catch this new Firefly series in comic shops on September 6.
