A new 55-page one-shot manga by Naruto author Masashi Kishimoto telling the story of Minato Namikaze is in the works for the upcoming 33rd issue of the Weekly Shonen Jump manga.
Entitled “NARUTO Gaiden: Uzu no Naka no Tsumujikaze” (Naruto Gaiden: A Whirlwind in a Vortex), the one-shot manga is the result of the NARUTO99 worldwide character popularity poll held from December 18th, 2022, to January 31st, 2023 (JST), which was held to determine which Naruto character would receive their own manga story.
The issue is set to release on Japanese shelves on July 18, 2023.

The results of the NARUTO99 worldwide character popularity poll saw that the character of Minato Namikaze received the most votes by far, with 792,257 in total. The main character, Naruto Uzumaki, only placed 6th in the poll with 182,911 votes. The poll was run in celebration of the series’ 20th anniversary.
Minato Namikaze is one of the most popular characters in the Naruto franchise. He is the father of the main protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki, and the 4th Hokage (or village leader) of the Hidden Leaf Village.
The new 55-page one-shot manga for Minato Namikaze is set to release in the 33rd issue of Weekly Shonen Jump set to release on July 18, 2023. It will reportedly focus on the character developing a new jutsu and feature colored centerfold pages. The tentative title for the one-shot is “NARUTO Gaiden: Uzu no Naka no Tsumujikaze“, with an English title currently pending.
