Rocky was already groundbreaking enough, with Sylvester Stallone ranking out six different movies over the course of three decades (1976-2006). With the dawn of the soft reboot/sequel that was known as Creed, which was dropped into the laps of moviegoers in 2015 with Michael B. Jordan as the lead this time, it’s safe to say that with all of these movies grossing a cumulative total of nearly $2 billion at the box office, people will want to see more of the boxing brawls that come there way. Could Amazon have the answer with a Creed Universe?
A Creed Universe is in the Works at Amazon
It has just been announced that Amazon is in very early talks to be developing a Creed Universe that is set to span both a Film and TV series. The plans for furthering the franchise have only been bolstered by the good buzz surrounding Creed III. Representatives for Amazon and Michael B. Jordan have not given any comment on the matter, whatsoever, according to Deadline. Jordan also told Deadline, “Building the Creed Universe is something that I’m really excited about.”
Moreover, a Drago spin-off film has been announced at MGM and is set to be written by Robert Lawton. It has not been fully finalized whether or not it will be green lit by the production company, but the idea of an Ivan Drago movie on screens that might show his origins and legacy as a boxer leading up to his fight with Rocky could be something that will have fans salivating at the mere thought of.
Ever since the deal between MGM and Amazon, the latter has been actively looking over MGM’s content to expand and expound upon. Nothing has been set n stone yet, but there could be a litany of amazing, untapped potential that is just waiting to be discovered in the franchise and will certainly have a number of fans clamoring for more boxing brawls.
