Nothing like another revival of a show that has been revived multiple times. Hulu has delivered a teaser for Futurama season 11, with a July 24 release date attached (seen below). This ten-episode revival will reunite the original cast, including Bender voice actor John DiMaggio. Hulu announced a Futurama season 11 last year without a release in sight. While it excited fans to get back into this world from Simpsons creator Matt Groening, things were shaken up. DiMaggio was initially not going to return out of “self-respect” due to unsatisfactory pay negotiations. Things turned around so that we will have the whole cast, with Billy West (Fry), DiMaggio, Katey Sagal (Leela), Tress MacNeille (Linda), Maurice LaMarche (Morbo), Lauren Tom (Amy), Phil LaMarr (Hermes), David Herman (Scruffy), and other fan favorites, like the late Coolio as Kwanzaabot. Groening will executive produce with co-creator David X. Cohen. Ken Keeler and Claudia Katz will also executive produce.
Futurama Season 11 Teaser Gives July Release Date
This is not the first time that the sci-fi comedy has been revived. It originally aired on Fox, then was canceled after four seasons. Comedy Central picked it up, only to have the same fate in 2013. Both times, the show had a prepared finale to give some satisfaction to the audience. Now, we will see a new revival to continue the adventures of the beloved cast.
When we arrive at the Futurama season 11 release, we will have an open door for both newcomers and long-time fans. The streamer promises “payoffs to decades-long mysteries.” We will have developments of Robot Santa, Fry, and Leela’s relationship, and more. It will also explore modern topics, from cryptocurrency to cancel culture.
Hulu has ordered 20 new episodes, but the first batch we are set will be ten. Rather than dropping it all at once, the streamer has opted to deliver one at a time on Mondays.
