Fans of the David Tennant and Michael Sheen comedy Good Omens on Amazon have been waiting since 2019 for season 2, but a summer 2023 release has been announced at New York Comic Con. In this announcement, we have a new poster (seen below) to celebrate that shows the two actors in their respective roles.
The Emmy-nominated series is based on the novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Good Omens season 2 will go outside of the confines of the source material to expand upon the world and what will happen to the demon and angel duo. Gaiman will continue to executive produce and co-showrun with executive producer Douglas Mackinnon. Mackinnon returns to direct.

The novel was published in 1990, with the adaption hitting Amazon Prime Video in 2019. Although not entirely faithful, it was well-received by critics and audiences. What mostly worked so well was the unlikely duo of Sheen as the angel, Aziraphale, and Tennant’s demon, Crowley. It was a short, sweet six-episode season that debuted the world and characters well to satisfy audiences.
The first season introduced audiences to the two protagonists and a strong supporting cast. It starred Frances McDormand, Benedict Cumberbatch, Sam Taylor Buck (Medici), Jon Hamm, Daniel Mays (Rogue One), and more. We do know that Derek Jacobi (Murder on the Orient Express), Niamh Walsh (The Sandman), Mark Gatiss (The Father), Steve Pemberton (Killing Eve), and Reece Shearsmith (The League of Gentlemen) will return. McDormand and Cumberbatch will not return. Meanwhile, new additions for Good Omens season 2 will include Siân Phillips (Keeping Faith), Tim Downie (Paddington), Andi Osho (Curfew), and Alex Norton (Two Doors Down).
Production began last November in Scotland. The filming wrapped up in March, setting it up for its summer 2023 release on Amazon Prime Video. You can currently watch the debut season on the streaming platform.
