While many studios are pulling out of this year’s convention, Lionsgate confirmed that John Wick: The Continental will still attend San Diego Comic-Con 2023. However, studios like Universal, Marvel, HBO, Netflix, and Sony Pictures will still not host any events. At the time, it is unknown if the remaining studios like DC and Warner Bros. will also opt out of participating. Lionsgate plans to host three panels in total at the convention. This also includes a first look at the Peacock mini-series. The Continental panel is set to take place on Friday, July 21st.
While the show and two others (Ghosts and Heels) are attending, Lionsgate’s film division will not participate in Comic Con. This follows a recent pattern of Hollywood Studios choosing to skip the convention in the midst of the ongoing Writers Guild strike. This is also paired with the possibility of a potential strike by SAG-AFTRA at the end of June. With the writers being on strike, many companies are facing issues navigating these conventions. Without new shows to market or the ability to substitute writers for their actors during panels, studios have little to present.
At the time, it is unknown what John Wick: The Continental will show at Comic-Con.

With the writers being on strike, many companies are facing issues navigating these conventions. Without new shows to market or the ability to substitute writers for their actors during panels, studios have little to present.
With its initial announcement of John Wick: The Continental, Lionsgate also released poster artwork and a trailer for the series. In it, fans got a glimpse of the gritty, dark setting of 1970s New York. The miniseries says it will follow a young Winston Scott as he beings to lay the groundwork for the famous hotel.
The trailer also gave fans a look at the cast, including a younger version of hotel manager Winston Scott. Colin Woodell portrays Winton in the series, a change from the actor Ian McShane. Other cast members include Ayomide Adegun as Charon and Katie McGrath as a High Table Adjudicator.
The Continental will premiere on Peacock in September 2023.
