Dead by Daylight has brought its first real-world celebrity, Nicolas Cage, into the fog. Though the asymmetrical horror game already has its share of famous faces, Cage is the first actor to play a version of himself. Renowned for his quirky personality and charm as much as his extensive filmography, Cage seems a logical choice. Now that Behaviour Interactive has opened that door, it’s natural to wonder who will be next. The perk and cosmetic possibilities of other celebrities are endless. Though none of these celebs are currently reported to be coming to the game, a little wishful thinking never hurt.
Danny Trejo
Danny Trejo has already appeared alongside Michael Myers once. Hence, his potential appearance in Dead by Daylight isn’t far-fetched. Trejo’s career has, in many ways, been just as long and varied as Cage’s. He’s often played the grizzled tough guy in every other action and horror film of the last three decades. Trejo’s iconic tattoos, rough yet easygoing demeanor, and apparent willingness to say yes to most projects make him ideal survivor material. After all, he’s already appeared in Def Jam: Fight for NY as well as a Far Cry 6 DLC. Cage joins DbD as an exaggerated version of himself, and Trejo could do much the same.
Michelle Rodriguez
Like Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez already has acting experiences under her belt that would make her great for DbD. Her appearance in multiple Resident Evil films means seeing her run from Nemesis in the Garden on Joy would be perfectly in character. From The Fast and the Furious to Machete, Rodriguez has explored a variety of fun and interesting roles over the years. Cage is in good company. Rodriguez also boasts extensive experience in voice acting for video games. She lent her talents to True Crime: Streets of LA, Halo 2, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II, amongst others. Of all the actors and actresses who could join the cast, Rodriguez seems one of the most plausible. Just as Laurie brought Decisive Strike to the game, Rodriguez could also offer a potent perk to give survivors some means of fighting back.
Tilda Swinton
Tilda Swinton played an angel in Constantine, and a vampire in Only Lovers Left Alive. Her interest in horror and the supernatural seems well-established. Better yet, the esteemed actress has an androgynous fashion sense and impeccable swagger. Behaviour Interactive could create a host of incredible cosmetics based on the characters Swinton has played, let alone the actress’s real-life wardrobe. Everything Swinton does feels oddly practiced, which in many ways would make her the perfect counterpoint for Nicolas Cage’s wild—debatably unhinged—energy. The current survivor roster lacks anyone with the same vibe as Swinton, so the actress’s presence could only help.
Chloë Grace Moretz
In the years since she first stepped into the shoes of Hit-Girl in Kick-Ass, Chloë Grace Moretz has flourished as an actress and taken on a number of exciting projects. However, one role comes immediately to mind in the context of Dead by Daylight: Carrie. The blood-drenched prom queen is a character many fans would kill for. Actually, most fans would rejoice at having any of Stephen King’s unforgettable characters come to DbD. In lieu of everyone’s favorite telekinetic killer, fans could at least celebrate the arrival of the woman who played her. In 2012 Moretz lent her voice to Lady Emily in Dishonored, so it’s conceivable that she might join the king of asymmetric horror. Moretz’s performances and personality differ massively from Nicolas Cage’s, so her inclusion would be a nice change of pace.
Giancarlo Esposito
To many fans, Giancarlo Esposito will always be Gustavo Fring. The legendary Breaking Bad villain remains cemented in popular consciousness as a calculating criminal. After all, he possesses an icy demeanor and calculating intellect that would chill any spine. Bringing Gus Fring to the fog wouldn’t make much sense and would be a licensing nightmare. Esposito is another matter. Furthermore, his portrayal of Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian showcased a laser-focused energy that would be perfect for the game. Considering some of the more lighthearted and playful characters on the roster, seeing Esposito’s sharp demeanor and sharper suits would be welcome chaos. Who wants to face off against Esposito and Nicolas Cage on the same team in Dead by Daylight?
