Statues of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad were unveiled on Friday in the characters’ hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Deadline reports that these bronze statues were unveiled at the Albuquerque Convention Center with actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul in attendance. The statues feature Walter and Jesse standing side by side, with Walter carrying his famous Heisenberg hat in his right hand. Also in attendance at this event were Dean Norris (who played Walter’s brother-in-law Hank), series creator Vince Gilligan, and Better Call Saul cast members Rhea Seehorn, Michael Mando, and Patrick Fabian. Better Call Saul creator Peter Gould also attended.

Trevor Grove designed these Breaking Bad statues. Gilligan acknowledged that not all Albuquerque residents may appreciate TV drug dealers getting this kind of honor. “In all seriousness, some folks are going to say, ‘Wow, just what our city needed,’ Gilligan said. “I get that. But let me tell you what I see when I look at these two works of art: I see two of the finest actors America has ever produced. I see them in character as two larger-than-life tragic figures, cautionary tales, world-famous ones at that.”

Gilligan may be biased, but he certainly isn’t wrong. Many consider Breaking Bad one of the greatest series of all time, and Cranston and Paul’s performances as Walter and Jesse are what makes the show so powerful. Walter is especially praised as one of the greatest antiheroes of all time. Fans are eager to see the duo make an appearance in the final season of Better Call Saul, and with only three episodes left, they won’t have to wait much longer.

Since the show ended, Cranston and Paul have both reprised their roles in the 2019 film El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, which centered on Jesse Pinkman’s continuing story after he left Walter White for good.
