Tom Holland is taking a year-long break from acting. The actor who started his career at nine is taking a temporal bow.
Tom has appeared in several movies, such as The Impossible, How I Live Now, and Heart of the Sea. The 27-year-old is most famous for playing the superhero role of Spider-Man in the MCU films. The role also gained him International recognition. In 2016, he received the BAFTA Rising Star Award as the youngest actor to play a title role in the film Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Why Is Tom Holland Taking A One-Year Break From Acting?
The Cherry actor just finished filming the new Apple TV mini-series The Crowded Room. Having played the lead role in the dark psychological thriller, Tom admitted it was tough. In an interview with Extra TV, he said that after working on The Crowded Room as an actor and producer, he is taking a year off due to how difficult the series was.
“It was a tough time exploring certain emotions that I had never experienced before. Being a producer and having to deal with the pressures that come with the film set,” Tom said.
He added that he couldn’t wait to see how it would turn out. He hopes that his hard work was not in vain. The Spider-Man star shared that he loves the learning curve of becoming a producer too. Tom explained that he is used to hard work and has always lived by the notion that hard work equals good work.
Regardless, this particular project wore him out. After the filming, he knew he needed some time off from work. The actor, who has been in a relationship with Zendaya, took a week off to unwind in Mexico.
About The Upcoming Series, The Crowded Room
The Crowded Room is scheduled to premiere on the Apple TV+ streaming service on the 9th of June, 2023. It was created by Akiva Goldsman and has been in development since 2021. The program was inspired by Daniel Keyes’s non-fiction book, The Minds of Billy Milligan.
Tom plays the character of Danny Sullivan, who was arrested for committing various crimes. He was eventually acquitted after he pleaded that he had dissociative identity disorder. During the court trial, Danny claimed that his multiple personalities were responsible for his crimes. Therefore, he was oblivious to his criminal actions.
