New trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi dropped on Star Wars Day

Now that the first two episodes of Disney+’s  Obi-Wan Kenobi have been out for more than a day, critic reviews are pouring in. And even though it’s still early, many critics agree that the show is a force to be reckoned with. At the time of this writing, Obi-Wan Kenobi has earned a score of 88% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience score is not far behind either, standing at a high 71%. Even though the score has dropped in the past couple of hours, Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of the higher rating Star Wars titles on Rotten Tomatoes. Of the current reviews, 93 have called the show fresh, while 12 have called it rotten.

As for the written reviews, they seem to be all over the place with praises and critiques. In his review, Nick Schager of “The Daily Beast” wrote that “Obi-Wan Kenobi is masterfully guided by Ewan McGregor.” Ricard Roeper of The Chicago Sun also repeated this kind of praise. At the same time, he wrote that “Some 17 years after McGregor was last seen as Obi-Wan Kenobi, he brings more depth, more of a world-weary wisdom to the role. It’s commanding work.” However, with the praise also came some tough critiques. Brain Talllerico of RogerEbert.com went on in his review of Obi-Wan, “This kind of forgettable storytelling just doesn’t last like the properties that inspired it.” Still, it looks like Star Wars fans will have to decide for themselves if Obi-Wan is the next franchise show they want to add to their arsenal.

Obi-Wan’s Rotten Tomatoes Reviews: What is it Actually About?

Set ten years after Star Wars: Episode III-Revenge of the Sith, the show takes place during Obi-Wan’s self-imposed exile on Tatooine. However, he is soon forced out of hiding due to an elite Jedi hunting force (the Inquisitors) under the orders of Darth Vader. The official synopsis for the series reads,

Obi-Wan Kenobi lives a humble, peaceful existence on Tatooine. Despite the dangers of being a Jedi survivor at the height of the empire, Kenobi is forced to emerge from hiding.
