Dakota Fanning joined the Equalizer 3 cast, as reported by Deadline. This marks the first time in 18 years since she has worked with Denzel Washington, who is reprising his leading role for the action movie series.
Antoine Fuqua (Southpaw) returns to direct the third film as he helmed the first two. Writer Richard Wenk (The Expendables 2) is also returning to pen the script, although no plot details are known. Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and Washington will produce.
Off its $55 million budget, 2014’s The Equalizer grossed $192 million worldwide. Its 2018 sequel got a slightly higher budget of $62 million. The sequel earned a little below its predecessor with $190 million worldwide.
The third installment is slated to release in theaters on September 1st, 2023.

Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning reuniting for Equalizer 3 will be the first time since they worked together in Man on Fire in 2004. The action flick was directed by Tony Scott (Unstoppable) and written by Brian Helgeland (Legend). Christopher Walken joined the two leads.

She was also in Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise. The actress most recently starred in the Showtime anthology drama The First Lady. The star-studded show featured Viola Davis, Michelle Pfeiffer, Gillian Anderson, O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale), and Lily Rabe (American Horror Story). Other notable work included Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood, Twilight, and The Cat in the Hat.
Down the road with Equalizer 3 for Dakota Fanning, she will star in Rodham and The Nightingale, which will also star her sister, Elle Fanning (The Great). She is currently filming the Showtime series Ripley. Her costars consist of Andrew Scott (Sherlock) and Johnny Flynn (Lovesick).
