A new Doctor Who trailer reveals the titles for the three upcoming 60th Anniversary specials airing in November. According to Deadline, three teasers have been airing on the BBC One schedule. Those teasers included binary codes hinting at the episode titles. This Doctor Who trailer, which aired prior to Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, revealed those titles. The first special is titled “The Star Beast,” the second “Wild Blue Yonder,” and the third “The Giggle.” Returning showrunner Russell T. Davies says, “The titles are just the beginning of the Doctor’s biggest adventure yet. Autumn is coming, with three hours of danger, Donna, and disaster about to be unleashed!”
‘Doctor Who’ Trailer Teases Chaos and Faces Old and New
This trailer for the upcoming Doctor Who anniversary specials tease the return of David Tennant as the tenth Doctor. It also sees him reunited with former companion Donna Noble (Catherine Tate), who cannot remember him after he wiped her memory to save her life. We also get a glimpse of Yasmin Finney and Neil Patrick Harris, who is stepping into the Doctor Who universe for these new specials.
Also teased in the trailer are creatures seemingly new to Doctor Who. However, they are actually part of the classic Who lore. The characters are the Wrarth Warriors and Beep the Meep. Gizmodo explains that the furry creature Beep was introduced in the 1980 comic story Doctor Who and the Star Beast. Hunted by the Wrarth Warriors, he used his cute exterior to convince the Doctor he was being hunted for no reason. However, it turned out his race is bent on intergalactic conquest, and the Wrarth Warriors were created as a police force to fight the Meeps. How the characters will play into the Doctor Who storyline is unknown as of now.
But we do know from this Doctor Who trailer that plenty of chaos is coming for the Doctor and Donna. We will see how that all plays out when the specials air in November.
