GTA

Grand Theft Auto V came out nearly eight years ago. Eight. For a game to be still going strong by all reports and not be an ongoing game like an MMORPG is crazy. And we’re not done yet. GTA V is coming to the next-gen consoles this November, in an “expanded and enhanced version.” The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions will be the third console generation that GTA V has featured on if you can believe it.

Announced in a newswire on the Rockstar Games website, they announced that the expanded and enhanced version of GTA V would launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 11, where previously they only had GTA V as backward-compatible PS4/Xbox One versions. Not much is really known about what additional benefits will be seen on the new platforms, although enhanced graphics and frame rates should largely be a given.

The new generation versions of GTA V will feature a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance enhancements to take full advantage of the latest hardware, making the game more beautiful and more responsive than ever.” – Rockstar

GTA VI, rockstar
We’re not seeing this anytime soon, it seems…

In that same announcement, Rockstar announced that GTA Online, the uber-successful multiplayer component of GTA V, would be getting a standalone version that would launch on that same day, and PlayStation players would be able to get it for free during the first three months. PlayStation 4 players of GTA V have already been getting a sweet deal, with $1m a month being redeemable for players with a PlayStation Plus membership. Sorry, Xbox players.

As an additional tease, Rockstar announced that they would be bringing some surprises on the eve of the 20th anniversary of Grand Theft Auto III, with some specifically for GTA Online players.

What do you think about this? Does GTA V deserve to keep getting work done do it or should Rockstar move on to other projects, like Grand Theft Auto VI? Leave us a comment down below with your thoughts.

When I'm not researching games to potentially add to an ever-growing backlog of games I've never finished, I'm scouting the next wonderkid on Football Manager, or adding my 180th hour to my Persona 5 completionist run. Likes games, and likes talking about them. Surprise, right?
