One thing that players will love for years to come is how many options Baldur’s Gate 3 has in terms of combat. While many are only in the game to see how many endings they can get, others love to approach fights differently. This is fantastic as the game already gives you many options to do so, which will keep changing depending on your classes. One of the first big fights of Baldur’s Gate 3 is against the Phase Matriarch Spider. This foe can be challenging if you’re not prepared. Don’t fret, though. We’ve made a guide to tell you how to beat this creature and use the Vision of the Absolute weapon in Baldur’s Gate 3 to help.
Baldur’s Gate 3: Phase Matriarch Spider Guide
To find the Phase Matriarch Spider in Baldur’s Gate 3, you must reach the Whispering Depths. To do so, you must enter through the well in the Blighted Village or any of the two walls inside the Blacksmith’s house. If you’re inside the Whispering Depths, these are the steps you must follow to face the Matriarch Spider and beat it:
- Sneak, burn, or shoot the webs to prevent the small spiders from moving toward you.
- Alternatively, you can leave the webs and destroy them when enemies are on top of them, doing fall damage.
- Once you defeat the first wave, move to the Phase Matriarch Spider nest and eliminate the eggs. Use a grenade or spells to destroy them.
- When you aggro the Matriarch Spider, stay on one platform and wait for it to get on a web bridge, and destroy the bridge to cause fall damage to the Spider.
- An easy way to end this fight is by waiting for the Matriarch to reach the eggs on the east side and hatch them; after that, throw a caustic bulb and a fire spell to send her flying off the platform, killing her instantly. (You’ll lose the loot, though).
Whichever approach you take, equip yourself beforehand with the Vision of the Absolute weapon to make the fight much easier.
How to Obtain the Vision of the Absolute
To get the Vision of the Absolute in Baldur’s Gate 3, you must enter the Owlbear Nest and either fight the Owlbear or escape from it. If you do the latter, you’ll have to wait and return to find it dead. Those who fight and beat it must loot the Owlbear’s corpse to get the Head of a Broken Spear. The Shaft of a Broken Spear can be found outside the cave in Edowin’s body after he dies. To combine the items, go to your inventory, right-click on the Shaft or Head, and select Combine. Select both items and combine them to get the Vision of the Absolute. This weapon is fantastic as it does damage to enemies with many eyes, something that’ll come in handy when fighting Phase Spiders.
