As a series, Pikmin is one of Nintendo’s strongest franchises. With cute graphics, addictive gameplay, and wonderful music, Pikmin is an indescribable experience. Additionally, the release of Pikmin 4 has not only continued this pattern of quality but also expanded on it. New features, enemies, Pikmin, and modes have made Pikmin 4 the biggest of the series to date. However, though the franchise is very well polished, it isn’t without its faults. This includes a myriad of glitches that have been discovered throughout the Pikmin series and in Pikmin 4. Though they may seem like a bad thing, these glitches can be both helpful and amusing to try at home. Here are our picks for the best glitches from the series, including Pikmin 1 to Pikmin 4.
10. Crushing Glitch
Starting off, we have a slightly harmful glitch that players can experience in Pikmin 1 and 2. In this glitch, when enemies die and fall your Pikmin, there is the chance they will be shoved through the floor, trapping them beneath the surface. Overall, this can be very frustrating as there is no notification for how these Pikmin perished. Instead, players will be left wondering how they lost their favorite Pikmin.
9. Instant Bridge
The next Pikmin glitch is the Instant Bridge from Pikmin 2. In an area that players have not visited before if you enter a cave or end the day, the glitch will be initiated. Upon returning to the desired bridge, players should be able to send Pikmin to complete the first part of the bridge normally. However, the following segments of the bridge will be finished almost instantly.
8. Seesaw Block Clip
For another Pikmin 2 glitch, we have the Seesaw Block Clip. To do this glitch, players will need to have an available cutscene they can trigger. After placing the leader on a lowered seesaw block, and placing some Pikmin on the other side, the player must then trigger the cutscene. When the cutscene is over, the player is now in the seesaw block and can reach out-of-bounds areas.
7. Napsack Warp
For a stranger Pikmin series glitch, we have the Napsack Warp. After clipping through the environment, like with the previous glitch, if the player were to lie down at the right time they may enter a strange plane that will transport them to weird locations. Specifically, this will warp you to the nearest carrying path waypoint. Although not very useful, it’s a cool glitch to see.
6. Cloning Glitch
Starting our Pikmin 3 glitches, we have the Cloning Glitch. In this glitch, must have their desired Pikmin type unlocked, and enough Pikmin to fill the field. To perform this, players must start by taking different Pikmin to the type they want out, quickly swapping them with their desired Pikmin, and opening the Onion menu again before the Pikmin enter. This will allow players to clone new Pikmin whenever they need it.
5. Invincible Pikmin
This next Pikmin 3 glitch will make Pikmin unstoppable and is fittingly called the Invincible Pikmin glitch. Doing this glitch requires players to pick up Pikmin just as they are getting crushed. If done correctly, the Pikmin will now be able to walk through water and stop reacting to whistle commands after they’re thrown.
4. Drowning Reset
Another helpful glitch from Pikmin 1 and 2 is the Drowning Reset. This glitch will allow non-blue Pikmin to drown indefinitely, making them easier to manipulate in water. To complete this in Pikmin 2, players will need to start saving the drowning Pikmin with Blue Pikmin, then call back the Blue Pikmin. By repeating this, you can cross any body of water with any type of Pikmin.
3. Visual Glitches
Already, players have been seeing some pretty interesting visual glitches in Pikmin 4. Some include a weird lighting glitch found by YouTuber AmoebaShleeba. This bug causes a strange flashing on the screen in the Blossoming Arcadia zone. Others have also found some weird texture glitches causing distorted visuals and colors.
2. Longer Throw Trick
Arguably the best glitch from Pikmin 1 and 2, we have the Longer Throw trick. This glitch will allow players to throw any Pikmin type on high ledges that are normally only accessible to Yellow Pikmin. To do this, players will need to build momentum and throw the Pikmin at the same time. This will launch the Pikmin much farther than normal, allowing them to reach normally inaccessible places.
1. Formidable Oak Backward
This Pikmin 3 glitch will allow players to complete the Formidable Oak Cave backward. By throwing a leader out of bounds, they will be able to navigate around the Plasm Wraith’s arena and eventually fall into the area behind the cave. From here, players will be able to clear out the cave of enemies before encountering the Mysterious Life-Form.
