Deck13 is mainly known for its work on The Surge and its sequel, The Surge 2. But the developer has just released the first gameplay trailer for its upcoming action RPG, Atlas Fallen. The game takes place in a world where mankind is oppressed by cruel gods and players must liberate humanity from their grasp, which means, in hack-and-slash fashion, boss battles! The game’s world is set in a semi-open world where players will use the sandy environment to their advantage. This extends to traversal across the world as well as combat, quite a unique setting for a game.
The gameplay trailer showcases a lot of hacking, slashing, and dodging as the protagonist takes on massive sand monsters. Players will have the ability to create a custom playstyle by taking the essence of their enemies and using it to tailor a unique system for their character. The good news (for most) is that Atlas Fallen is not a Souls-like game, unlike The Surge series, but leans more towards the power fantasy of the action-RPG genre, similar to Devil May Cry, or maybe even Final Fantasy 16.
Atlas Fallen Gameplay Trailer
You can choose one of two playable characters, a male character with an intimidating mask, or a female one with all the same powers. Both characters are likely to play quite similarly, with some minor gameplay changes or some exclusive abilities.
The original CGI-animated reveal trailer for the game showcased a world of humans, fallen gods, and deadly robots buried beneath the sands of time. The trailer also shows transforming weapons were also teased hinting at inspiration from Bloodborne. The game is set to be published by Focus Interactive and will release on May 16 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Preordering the game unlocks the Ruin Rising Pack, which includes new armor and gauntlet skins.
