Deck13‘s new sandy game, Atlas Fallen, has gotten its release date revealed and will be launching on May 16th, as announced by Focus Entertainment. The game got a ton of attention when it was revealed during last year’s Gamescom Opening Night Live event, thanks to its unique mechanics that allow players to use sand in interesting new ways. Everything from movement to combat is all based on sand-based powers.
We haven’t seen what the game actually looks like, but if the CG trailer is indicative of the game, Atlas Fallen will likely have an interesting world that we haven’t seen the likes of before. But this world won’t be easy to glide through as players will have to manipulate the sand to create weapons that will help them take down massive beasts that are said to be on par with the monsters in Monster Hunter. The sandy world is controlled by a corrupt god, and the goal of the game is to defeat him.
Atlas Fallen Release Date
Thankfully, Atlas Fallen is a current-gen only release, meaning that it will only be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The game is not a live service game, but it can be played solo or with a friend in co-op mode since it has two playable characters to choose from (if the trailer is anything to go by). Players can recruit a friend for good old-fashioned co-op monster slaying.
In a hands-off preview last year, Atlas Fallen received praise for its direction, showing flashes of Monster Hunter, Control, and the Horizon series of games, while also introducing some intriguing new ideas of its own. The game is set to come out fairly soon, but oddly enough, Deck13 still hasn’t revealed its gameplay.
This makes it seem like the Hi-Fi Rush model of showing it off and releasing it soon might be catching on. And that is for the best, especially from the consumer perspective. With the launch date set for May 16th on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC, The Surge and Lords of The Fallen fans can get ready to embark on an exciting adventure in a sand-covered world.
