One of the most interesting parts of the Pikmin series is the enemies. Oftentimes, these alien creatures have creative designs that range from adorable to downright terrifying. Pikmin 4 continues this pattern with some of the best-designed monsters in the series so far. Pikmin 4 pulls enemies from every game in the series and adds some memorable additions as well. Although some of these opponents can be complete pushovers and fodder to your Pikmin armies, others will give you a tough time if you’re not careful. Some foes can wipe out entire squadrons of Pikmin if not dealt with properly. Here are the 10 hardest enemies and bosses to deal with in Pikmin 4 that you should be wary of.
10. Wollywog
Although not the scariest foe in the world, Wollywogs can sometimes be one of the most challenging enemies in the game. Firstly, while it’s hopping, it’s hard to hit the giant frog with Pikmin. Missing your throw here is bound to end in a few casualties. Additionally, when fighting them in water makes the combat even more difficult. As far as common creatures go, the Wollywog is one of the hardest.
9. Burrowing Snagret
The next hardest Pikmin 4 enemy is the Burrowing Snagret. This snake-like bird is bound to eat at least a couple of Pikmin during every fight. It moves fast, and oftentimes it’s impossible to call your Pikmin back fast enough before an attack. Plus, rocks now guard the lower end of the creature, making it impossible to swarm for an easy kill.
8. Shellcake
Shellcakes are one of the most stressful and hardest enemies to fight in Pikmin 4. These flat, crab-like monsters will flip and crush whatever Pikmin you throw on them. Although it isn’t very aggressive, timing your Pikmin throws is a tense experience. One wrong move, and this beast can wipe out huge chunks of your army.
7. Emperor Bulbax
The classic boss from Pikmin 1 returns. Albeit smaller, it still proves to be one of the hardest enemies of Pikmin 4. These powerful creatures use a massive tongue attack that can quickly wipe out your Pikmin. Additionally, they have a huge health pool and can take lots of damage. Dealing with two of them at the same time is the icing on the cake.
6. Groovy Long Legs
Groovy Long Legs is one of the coolest and hardest enemies that Pikmin 4 has to offer. The Arachnorb enemies have always presented a big challenge in Pikmin, and Groovy Long Legs continues the tradition. Between fast stomping movements and its dancing spray attack, players need to play methodically to learn its attack patterns to win.
5. Pearly Clamclamp
Besides the Shellcakes, the Pearly Clamclamp is one of the most challenging enemies regarding timing. Fighting the Pearly Clamclamp is like a game of chicken. Leaving your Pikmin on too long will get them chomped, while leaving them on too briefly will make the fight longer. Learning the perfect timing of the Pearly Clamclamp is key to taking it down.
4. Smokey Progg
The Smokey Progg makes its return in Pikmin 4 from being Pikmin 1’s hardest enemy. Although not nearly as strong as before, the Smokey Progg can still give players a headache if they aren’t careful. The key to winning this fight is patience, as making the wrong move could result in a complete wipe.
3. Sovereign Bulblax
If the Emperor Bulbax is one of Pikmin 4’s hardest enemies, then the Sovereign Bulblax belongs on the list as well. The Sovereign Bulblax is a huge Bulbax, similar in size to the original Emperor Bulbax from Pikmin 1. Dealing with this boss is a massive ordeal, as it has a huge health pool and a wide attack range. Using Bomb Rocks may be a great way to even the odds in this fight.
2. Ancient Sirehound
Of course, the final boss of Pikmin 4 has to be one of its hardest enemies. This massive dog leads to a brutally long fight that is sure to test everything you and your Pikmin have learned so far. Some of the Sirehound’s attacks are so powerful that they can take out players in one hit. Mobility and dodging are essential in this epic final boss fight.
1. Waterwraith
Finally, the hardest enemy of Pikmin 4, arguably for the whole series, is the Waterwraith. What makes this enemy so terrifying is the fact that you can’t initially hurt it. When dealing with the monster initially in the Engulfed Castle, players simply have to run away from it. Once at the bottom of the cave, players will receive the Purple Pikmin necessary to fight. Nonetheless, the battle is still incredibly tough to overcome.
