July was set to be a fairly dry month in gaming compared to the last few months of Dead Space, Resident Evil 4, Tears of the Kingdom, and Diablo 4. Now the month will be more barren as Ascendant Studios has announced Immortals of Aveum will be delayed with a new August 22 release date for the magical FPS.
The developer’s blog post first mentioned the enthusiasm it has seen for Immortals of Aveum before delivering the bad news about it being delayed. The game was gearing up for its original July 20 slot after releasing previews and delivering presentations at showcases from PlayStation and Summer Game Fest. Due to “recent feedback,” the studio decided to push the game back to improve it. It has been a challenge for a “self-funded studio” to work through building its team and getting through the pandemic while working on this game for the last five years.
Immortals of Aveum Gets Delayed and a New Release Date Is Set for August
The game will take players through a magical FPS experience as they join a group of battlemages to save the world. You will quickly move through levels, blasting enemies with various magical powers. The game will contain 25 spells, 80 talents, and a plethora of loot to create a loadout that is specialized to your taste.
The delay to August is tough for Immortals of Aveum as July did not have much competition with AAA or indie games that would deliver such an action-packed experience. Now, anticipated games like Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon (August 25) and Baldur’s Gate 3 (August 31) will make it more difficult for Immortals of Aveum to stand out. The rest of the year has a host of hot releases with Lies of P, Starfield, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, and more.
Immortals of Aveum will be available in August on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
