We saw it with Resident Evil and Final Fantasy, and the studio of the latter game seems to be planning something. According to recent leaks, Square Enix could be working on an HD-2D remake of Chrono Trigger. The same person that leaked this claims this could be announced during a Nintendo Direct that the Japanese company is planning for this month. As always, let’s take this with a grain of salt before jumping to conclusions.

The leaker, who goes by the name of Zippo, is the person who claims there are leaks about a Chrono Trigger remake for the Nintendo Switch. This announcement could come during the upcoming Nintendo Direct. This sounds fantastic, but nothing is set in stone until the developers announce, yet, dreaming doesn’t hurt. Many people have been begging for a remake of this legendary RPG. If you didn’t know, Chrono Trigger is hailed as one of the best RPGs ever, and with good reason.

When the game launched, it featured one of the best stories, combat systems, and characters gamers had seen. This, combined with some of the biggest minds behind JRPGs, made Chrono Trigger a cult classic and a must-play for those who love the genre. Despite the game being available on certain platforms, some claim it hasn’t aged well. A Chrono Trigger remake is due, and we hope these leaks will be accurate. With Square Enix working on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, it isn’t crazy to believe Chrono Trigger will get the same treatment. However, we’ll have to wait for official confirmation. Hopefully, the people behind this fantastic game will say something soon to make new and old gamers try this rumored remake.
