P’s harrowing journey to becoming human will commence in Lies of P this fall of 2023. While many are well acquainted with the children’s fairy tale of Pinocchio, NEOWIZ wishes to retell their version of the story — Dark Souls style. The Belle Époque-inspired city of Krat has become a nightmarish hellscape, crawling with ghastly puppets that would give The Beldam from Coraline a run for her money. Fortunately, P is no mere puppet, as he comes equipped with weaponized parts to slice, smash, and blast his way to become human.
When Is the Release Date for Lies of P?
During Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, NEOWIZ has announced the release date for Lies of P to be Sept. 19, 2023. The game will launch across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Those who preorder the Standard or Digital Deluxe Edition will receive the Mischievous Puppet’s Clothes and Hat.Â
As noted above, this is a Soulslike title, meaning players can expect a challenging combat system focused on timing and quick reaction skills. Of course, P has access to various weaponry, including parts of his puppet body that can be customized for different advantages in combat or exploration. If you’re a fan of the parry mechanics in Sekiro or 2022’s GOTY Elden Ring, then you’ll have a grand time bashing and slashing your foes in Lies of P.
While the action-combat gameplay and dark yet gorgeous visuals are the main attractions of Lies of P, NEOWIZ boasts the game’s story to be just as intriguing. Along with notable characters P encounters during his adventure, procedural quests interconnected to the story will play out differently depending on your choices. Moreover, the consequences of your actions will indeed affect how the tale ends, allowing for potential multiple playthroughs.
How Long Is the Lies of P Demo?
While September is only a few months off, NEOWIZ was eager to show off its latest release with a free-to-play demo for Lies of P. Featuring around two to three hours of gameplay, the demo lets players experience the first two chapters of the game. Such a bold move is undoubtedly a win-win for everyone, especially when access to the demo is free of charge.
