Just like weapons, classes or characters in The First Descendants can only be unlocked through collecting specific materials and crafting. To craft or research a new character, you need to speak to Anais in Albion. You definitely want to unlock more characters to fulfill different roles in your party. Check out where you can find both the class-specific and common materials in our guide below.

To be able to research a character class in The First Descendant, you’ll need to get your hands on unique items from Amorphous Material. Amorphous Material appears as an item box in your inventory and only drops from certain missions like Resource Defense and Mine Blocking.

But you can’t just open this weird The First Descendant class material box right away! You have to keep them in your inventory, fight a Void Intercept boss, and then you’ll get a chance to unlock them. There are 12 types of Amorphous Material at the time of writing, and each is unlocked by defeating a specific Void boss.

But you’ll also need common The First Descendant crafting materials to research new classes. They are dropped by enemies and found inside Vulgus Supplies and Albion Supply Boxes in mission areas. Activate the Ecive Scan using the Tab key on a keyboard or Right Stick on a controller to make searching the boxes easier.

If you need to farm The First Descendant class crafting materials, try running Special Operations. Destroying crates and defeating mobs while in there should give you quite a lot of loot. Below are the areas where the common crafting materials can drop:

  • Anti-Gravity Fixer: Kingston (The First Descendant class crafting material comes from missions’ boss or elite enemies)
  • Arche Receptors: Kingston
  • Data Processing Cercuit: The Sterile Land (the class crafting material from missions’ boss or elite enemies)
  • Hardner: Vespers
  • Hyper Cube: Vespers
  • Metal Accelerant: The Sterile Land
  • Monad Shard: Kingston
  • Monite Stone: Vespers (The First Descendant class crafting material from missions’ boss or elite enemies)
  • Optical Catalyst: The Sterile Land (Mine Blocking, Resource Defense)
  • Repton: Kingston
  • Semiconstant Plasma: Vespers
  • Superfluid: The Sterile Land

The First Descendant is currently in beta for PS4, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam.
