Cyberpunk 2077 had one of the worst launches in all of video game history, but that also turned into the biggest redemption arc as well. Gamescom 2023 Opening Night brought a plethora of new releases, reveals, and announcements and one of the biggest ones was that Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0 is on its way with the game’s upcoming expansion, Phantom Liberty.
Update 2.0 for Cyberpunk 2077 brings so many major changes to the game that most have concluded that this will turn it into a completely different experience. You can find the complete list of changes revealed during the Gamescom trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 below, and how they will impact gameplay.
Cyberpunk 2077 – New Toys to Play With
Combat has gotten a lot of changes, and they are not limited to the addition of new weapons. While the update will add a lot of new weapons, including rifles, swords, and many more, there are other new things under the hood that will change how you play the game completely.
CD Projekt Red has revamped the combat AI, making it a lot more realistic and challenging. We don’t know for sure how much better the AI will be, but at the very least, enemies will no longer stand there at random times or be entirely unable to find you.
Perks, Relics, and Cyberware have also been overhauled. Augments now come with an improved visual interface as well as more varied options. Not only have Perks and Relics gotten a new UI as well, but new options have been added like air dash, bullet deflect, finishers, and more.
Other Game-Changing Additions in Update 2.0 Of Cyberpunk 2077
Some additional vehicles have made their way into Cyberpunk but that isn’t something that bothered players much. The vehicle variety had been solid since the game’s launch. A far more impactful change has been made to vehicle combat, allowing for a lot more freedom in how the player can engage with enemies. New options include shooting while driving, hacking enemy vehicles, and shooting specific vehicle points to get rid of enemies.
The most fun addition has to be vehicle-mounted guns, if you’ve ever wanted a true arsenal, now you will get your chance. Vehicles can be mounted with automatic machine guns to mow down foes, as well as rocket launchers.
And finally, the long-awaited police overhaul has arrived. The police will no longer be absolutely brain-dead, and will actually react to the player’s actions in a more realistic manner, similar to other open-world games like GTA V.
When Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty launches on September 26, update 2.0 will accompany the massive expansion. Players can expect a new explorable area, dozens of new story missions, “endless dynamic events,” an increased level cap, and hundreds of new items. Cyberpunk 2077 has finally reached its full potential, offering everything that the developers intended with the original release and more.
