Death Note: Short Stories – Chapters and Content
Death Note: Short Stories was originally a compilation book released earlier this year by the original Death Note creators, Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, and included the brand new one-shot chapter, The a-Kira Story. This chapter was the first official Death Note chapter released in 12 years and was first published in the March edition of the Shonen Jump Sqaure magazine. It served as a continuation that took place several years after the ending and involved a series of events following Ryuk’s Death Note falling to Earth and its discovery by a new character, Minoru Tanaka.
The only previous one-shot chapter to do this was The C-Kira Story, released in 2008 and taking place 3 years after the original manga’s ending. It served as an epilogue to the original series, following the character Near as he hunts for a new Death Note-wielding “Kira”, who is using the power of the tome against the elderly.
An anime adaption ran from 2006-2007, and the series has continued to gain popularity over the years. A Netflix live-action remake of the original manga was released in 2017, and the Short Stories includes several other one-shot chapters released over the years, such as L-One Day, L-The Wammy House, and the original Death Note manga pilot.
The anime adaptation is currently available to watch on both Netflix and Crunchyroll.
