Final Fantasy VII is a game that is dear to many gamers, old and new. That’s even more true than ever with the wild success of Final Fantasy VII Remake. As a result of this remake, a lot of popularity has come back for Cloud Strife and friends. There were plenty of differences between the remake and the original. But many fans see these differences as a good thing, which expanded an already amazing game and created a heightened sense of engagement. Now, it seems that the cast themselves will be getting some spotlight. Square Enix has announced they will be publishing the Final Fantasy VII-inspired novel Traces of Two Pasts. The novel is expected to focus on the pasts of Aerith and Tifa before the events of Final Fantasy VII Remake began.
An Expansive Final Fantasy VII World Brings A Lot Back Around
Final Fantasy VII is well-known as one of Square Enix’s best IPs because it takes a novel approach to storytelling. An expansive world was first created in games, which made it even more impressive for the original PlayStation. Of course, there was a lot to get through, so some parts of the game were underdeveloped. One thing that comes with the remake is a chance to delve into these aspects. For example, the SOLDIER program has become a key plot point. It even has an entire battle royale game at hand. Unfortunately, that growth did mean they needed to break the game into two pieces.
Furthermore, the Final Fantasy VII Remake has given developers a chance to give the ensemble cast more depth. Yuffie has already been given a DLC that leads up to her involvement. And with this novel at hand, we will get to learn the detailed backstories of both our leading ladies. The story promises to delve into Tifa and Aerith, respectively, going into their lives before they meet Cloud and start to defend Midgard. It’s sure to be a good read.
Final Fantasy VII Remake: Traces of Two Pasts will hit shelves everywhere on November 8.
