Ever wondered what Mickey Mouse would look like dressed as Captain America? How about Goofy as The Hulk? Or Donald Duck as The Thing? With Disney’s 100th anniversary coming up next year, you won’t have to just wonder for much longer. Next year on October 16th, Disney will celebrate a whole century of storytelling. As part of the celebration, Marvel will publish Marvel and Disney crossover variant covers. After all, what better way to celebrate a long-awaited crossover than with superheroes?
What to Expect in this Marvel and Disney Crossover?
Disney 100 Years of Wonder is a global celebration that will honor and showcase everything Disney has to offer. Disney is a massive empire with several renowned franchises under it including Lucasfilm, Pixar, 21st Century Fox, and, of course, Marvel. So with Marvel Comics being a part of the Disney family, Disney100 Variant Cover Program is where you can expect to celebrate the legacy of Marvel for the Marvel and Disney crossover. Marvel Comics reimagines classic comic book covers with the “What If” lens. Because of sheer excitement for the celebration, Marvel Comics revealed three variant covers that pay homage to unforgettable Marvel comics. These covers including Avengers #4, Fantastic Four #1, and The Incredible Hulk #1 transform iconic Disney characters with the Marvel style.
And this is just the beginning. Fans of Marvel can expect to see 12 covers in total. As part of Disney’s variant program, these one-of-a-kind variant covers will begin to release every month in 2023. Upcoming issues of The Amazing Spider-Man starting with issue #17Â will have the three variant cover art mentioned starting on January 11, 2023.
