You can’t deny that commanding an army of tiny and cute creatures is anything but satisfying. That being said, Tinykin is the new upcoming Pikmin-inspired indie game scheduled for release in 2022. Play as Milo and gather your hoard of mysterious Tinykin to use their collective abilities in building bridges, ladders, and explosions! With charming 2D character artwork reminiscent of something out of Saturday morning Cartoon Network, you’ll explore the huge 3D world of a home on Earth. Use the Tinykin to help Milo get back to his home planet, where everything is “normal-sized.” This creative puzzle-platforming adventure will be releasing on Steam for PC.
Recently, there’s been a welcome revival of the “Pikmin genre,” with the exceptionally charming The Wild at Heart released last month and the positively gorgeous Kena: Bridge of Spirits coming this summer. The last “real” Pikmin title (Pikmin 3) came out almost eight years ago, now leaving other indie studios to fill in the gap that Nintendo has neglected for this beloved IP. Tinykin seeks to continue this idea of “tiny space person stuck in a giant world,” but with its own unique twists and special mechanics.
In Tinykin, Milo will lead his crew of cute critters through a sprawling ant-sized metropolis full of communities of ants, beetles, and other bugs. The world is alive with colorful characters who possess a distinct backstory and history. Additionally, Milo has his own tricks up his sleeve, like a tiny soap-board to skate about and a bubble helmet to float about platforms. In the vast, intricate layout of the human house, no problem is unsolvable, and no obstacle is impossible to overcome with the help of the Tinykin.
