Doctor Strange is a character that has been in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a while now. He helped Thor in Thor: Ragnarok and played a major role in the fight against Thanos. He’s certainly become a paramount character and the new potential center of the MCU. And yet, he’s been playing second fiddle since his premiere movie. That will change soon as Doctor Strange 2 prepares to head to the box office this weekend. With multiple iterations of the multiverse throughout the MCU so far, this is the one where it all comes to a head. And it seems that a large amount of fan excitement has come with it. So far, pre-sale tickets for Doctor Strange 2 have skyrocketed past the first movie, projecting five times the earnings and setting itself as the most popular of 2022.
The Good Doctor Fights a Multiverse of His Own Making
Doctor Strange 2 looks like it holds some major implications for the greater MCU. According to trailers, Doctor Strange is having disturbing dreams and must face something that he (or at least a version of him) created. Strange comes face-to-face with a Council of Strange, multiple different versions of him that have gathered for unknown purposes. And beyond that, it seems that the dangerous Doctor Strange Supreme from Marvel’s What If…? makes an appearance. The movie is expected to be full of cameos and kick off the rest of Phase 4 from there. It could even lead to a villain’s plans mentioned in Loki Season 1.
However, a lot of this speculation. The movie has been kept under wraps as much as possible. Of course, even Kevin Feige himself says it’s impossible to avoid MCU spoilers at this point. Hopefully, the spoilers don’t damage the box office performance of Doctor Strange 2. And if these pre-sale tickets are a sign of anything, it is that Doctor Strange 2 will be a major hit.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness breaks into theaters this Friday, May 6. Get ready to strap in and watch the magic.
