Tobey Maguire fans are campaigning for the making of Spider-Man 4. This rally happens 15 years after the release of the critically panned Spider-Man 3, and it happens in the midst of another Spider-Man movie’s enormous success.

CBR reports that die-hard fans have begun to rally on social media for director Sam Raimi to make another Spider-Man film with Maguire in the titular role. This film was planned in the late 2000s but was canceled in 2010 due to the poor reception for 2007’s Spider-Man 3. However, Maguire recently reprised his role as Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man, in the critical and box-office success Spider-Man: No Way Home as a Peter Parker from a parallel universe to Tom Holland’s version of the character. The film and Maguire’s return have been so celebrated by fans that they now are now campaigning on social media with the hashtag #MakeRaimiSpiderMan4.
Maguire is not the only one with a fanbase rallying behind him after No Way Home’s success. Andrew Garfield, who portrayed Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel, also reprised his take on the character in the new film. This has led to fans having a new appreciation for Garfield’s version of Spider-Man, and there is also an active campaign for the canceled The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to be made with Garfield in the lead. Certain events in No Way Home took place that altered the destinies of characters from Maguire’s and Garfield’s universes, so it would be of interest to see how that affected events in these dimensions and how that would play out in further films.
Neither actor has spoken on whether they’ve been approached for any future appearances as Peter Parker. There is some speculation arising that Garfield’s Spider-Man may be added to the upcoming film Morbius and that this has something to do with the film’s recent delay. However, this delay is reportedly due to a surge in Covid-19 cases.
