Among the reveals at the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase, Clockwork Revolution seemed to show up out of nowhere. Developer inXile Entertainment is here to deliver a new steampunk experience where the butterfly effect is the core feature. Make one change and the future completely alters, for good or ill. The attached footage gives us a solid idea of what to look forward to since the game doesn’t have a release window as of yet. Let’s check it out and see what’s in store.
inXile Entertainment Unleashes Steampunk Trailer for Clockwork Revolution
“This city is a miracle of progress,” Lady Ironwood tells us as we’re introduced to the steam-powered city of Avalon in Clockwork Revolution. Prosperity is around every corner, as humans and machines live in harmony. But the script quickly flips as a clock turns everything on its side – Avalon changes. One slight change, as exhibited through Ironwood’s analogy with turning gears, alters the promising metropolis in more ways than one.
It’s apparent that Lady Ironwood is antagonistic, given her sinister dialogue in the Clockwork Revolution reveal trailer. She warns the player of the consequences that will come into play should they choose to rebel against her. The footage takes us through some of the transitions that you can trigger if you continue to mess with time. Coupled with some haunting music to boot, the footage puts us on the edge of our seats, waiting to see what the players have been doing.
inXile Entertainment and Xbox Game Studios are currently working on Clockwork Revolution. “In due time,” is the only clue we got in terms of its release. We can only imagine what other twists and turns we could get ourselves into with Clockwork Revolution.
