Names like Dr. Disrespect and others have been commenting lately on the new Twitch replacement: Kick. Some have kicked it around, while other streamers have kicked it aside, labeling it a fad. Other streamers have avoided commenting on the Kick streaming platform, fearing the worst to come from Twitch in response. However, highly respected streamer and internet personality Ninja had a few things to say regarding the platform. These include how it compares to other platforms such as Mixer, why it may succeed, and what it needs to keep going.
Ever since 2011, Twitch Streamer Ninja has taken a spotlight in the public eye as a streamer. While he first worked with Twitch, that all changed around 2019 when he shocked his own audience by leaving Twitch. He jumped to a Microsoft-backed streaming service called Mixer. This is where he sought to create an exclusive service where he would be one of the leading streamers on the platform. However, Mixer failed to live up to the title of a rival to Twitch. It quickly tanked in Twitch’s shadow. While Ninja’s viewership suffered due to the move, it did eventually bounce back. Ninja was able to retain his status on the platform until 2020, when Mixer shut down.
What Does Ninja Think Of Kick?
With the Kick streaming platform making waves in the market and trying to repeat what Mixer did, various Twitch celebrities have been asked to comment on the issue. And with larger streamers moving to Kick to help get it off the ground, now everyone’s wondering if their favorite streamer will move as well. During a broadcast, Ninja’s brother asked for a comment on the issue. Considering that Ninja lived with an event similar to Kick, the question is pretty appropriate. Why did Mixer fail? What would be the critical wound that would cause Kick to repeat what Mixer did? His answer was a relatively simple one: lack of preparation.
According to Twitch streamer Ninja, Mixer was a mess in terms of PR and management elements. Getting signed up, getting a platform together, and ultimately getting paid were all described as “hours of wasted time” by both Ninja and those who worked with him. That being said, it’s safe to say that Ninja will likely stay right where he is in terms of streaming. He has made no mention of joining another platform yet.
